Darren Sammy arrived at St. Lucia Airport

Hundreds of proud Saint Lucians assembled in the reception area and parking lot of the airport to hail their fellow countrymen. Airport staff along with ordinary Saint Lucians in the waiting crowd, flocked Sammy and Charles to pose for pictures, to sign autographs, and to get as close as possible to the local cricket stars.

Sammy and Charles in a grand Motorcade

The celebrations did not end there. Following the welcome ceremony, Sammy and Charles were accompanied by those in attendance, and they led a queue of vehicular traffic to the north of the island in a grand motorcade. Those who could not be at the airport, lined up the sides of the main road to catch a glimpse of their captain and opening batsman. \

Arriving at Micoud, the hometown of captain Sammy, vehicular traffic came to a standstill on both sides, as persons rushed into the main road to meet their hero. Humble as ever, Sammy along with Charles got off to embrace their fans.
